the Cowboys are the Super Bowl Favorites through two wEeks!

We hear the saying “It’s finally the Cowboys year” every single season. And year after year, the team finds a way to disappoint and not even make it close to a Super Bowl. Though the last couple of years have been tough for the Cowboys in the playoffs, this year looks different. I know it is extremely early in the season, but the Dallas Cowboys look like the Super Bowl favorites right now…

Dallas has dominated both games they’ve played so far this season, destroying both New York teams in very similar fashions. The Dallas defense may be the best in the entire NFL, and it’s not really close. I know the 49ers defense has a big argument for this, but this Dan Quinn-led unit is just playing on another level that no one has been able to match. They’ve dominated the trenches, locked down teams’ best receivers with ease, and Quinn is showing why he deserves another shot as a head coach. Though T.J. Watt has a good case for being the best defensive player in the world, Micah Parsons is right up there with him. It’s easy to rush the passer with as much grit and swag as Micah does when you have Diggs and Gilmore on the back end. The duo has been excellent so far outside of a few big plays from Garrett Wilson on Sunday, but that’s expected. There really isn’t a single hole on this defense, and they are going to be an issue for any offense they play. Dak Prescott and the offense haven’t been getting as much attention, but have cleaned up one glaring issue they had from last year….

Dallas was 14th in the league last season in turnovers, as Dak Prescott infamously led the NFL in interceptions despite only playing 12 games. Through two weeks, Dallas has not turned the ball over once on offense, and Dak has been careful and smart with the ball while also not being too conservative. The offensive line, led by perennial All-pro Zach Martin, haven’t given up a sack yet, and have allowed very few pressures on their QB. The run game for Dallas has been a little inconsistent, but can still be valuable for them down the stretch, as Tony Pollard gets used to the featured back role. Ceedee Lamb is still doing his thing, as he should establish himself as one of the five best wide receivers in the NFL sooner rather than later. Kellen Moore had a very up-and-down stint as OC for Dallas, but so far, new OC Brian Schottenheimer has been great. The play-action game that Schottenheimer is known for has already been implemented a ton in the new Cowboys’ offense, and it’s only going to be more effective when Pollard and the run game start churning a bit. Even though Dallas looks like the NFL’s best right now, there is still a long way to go until the playoffs, and they’ve got plenty of obstacles ahead of them. Those obstacles are other teams and potentially their head coach with a history of shortcomings…

Though they haven’t looked as dominant as last year, the Eagles still exist, and are going to be fighting for the division all year with Dallas. The Commanders could be a team to look out for, and the Giants coached by Brian Daboll are going to at least be there as well. The 49ers are always going to be in the mix, Atlanta looks good, and Seattle may have figured things out. There are a lot of teams just in the NFC that could give the Cowboys fits. Though they definitely have the capability to beat all of these teams, it’s gonna come down to one man: Mike McCarthy. He’s had a history of choking in key situations and has done so the past two years. The controversial QB draw call in the 2022 WC game and the Zeke at Center play call from Dallas’ playoff loss last season are two that come to mind immediately but there is a surplus of options to choose from. McCarthy has shown that he can do it, but he has shown more times than not that the playoffs are just too bright for him. Dak taking care of the ball and playing sharp football will also be a major factor for the Cowboys’ Super Bowl odds as well. These two have to step up the rest of the season and in the postseason because everything is put in place for this Dallas team to finally break their Super Bowl drought!!

Long story short, this Dallas defense is filled with playmakers and is coached very well. They are ready to compete for a Super Bowl, and at this point, it’s on Dak and McCarthy. Yes, I know it’s only Week 2, but these Dallas Cowboys have the potential to do something electric this season…
